Bridges to community green space initiatives

Community park audits and the redesign process aim to bridge the gaps of resources, knowledge and engagement in the lower income communities of Davenport and adjacent neighbourhoods through the delivery of programming aimed at greening and reforesting parks and community green spaces.

The main objective of this project is to establish local parks as vibrant meeting hubs for neighbourhoods, where residents come together in the planning/redesign and stewardship of local trees and green spaces. By working in the Davenport community alongside residents to develop broad participation and support for park plans, and by bringing in the necessary City resources, GreenHere demonstrates how communities can work together and deliver improvements. BCGI encourages more and broader community engagement and participation in the planning and stewardship of local public green spaces.

See Wadsworth Park for more information on community park audits and how the community can work together to get recommendations implemented.
